Airports
Most visitors to Cuba arrive by air. The most common airport when traveling to Cuba is the Jose Marti International Airport in Havana, located on the northwestern end of Cuba. The most common gateways into Cuba are Cancun, Nassau and Toronto. While there are direct flights from within the United States, there are very high restrictions for traveling to Cuba. US citizens need the permission of the US Treasury Department prior to any travel into Cuba.
Arriving by sea is also common by privately owned boats or yachts, however, US citizens are still required to receive permission from the US Treasury Department. Very few cruise ships arrive in Cuba.
Chartered flights are available to get you to other areas of Cuba and are usually affordable.
