The first mission in San Antonio was established in 1718 and it wasn’t long until there were five missions along the San Antonio River. Four of these fall within the boundaries of the National Historic Park today. Grab a map at the visitor center, after watching Gente de Razon, an award-winning film about the natives of south Texas, and then set out to the missions proper.
