Although this scenic drive does make its way through farm lands, it's most set within the urban glitter and traffic of San Antonio. Little matter. The missions themselves are not crowded by modern buildings, but left separate on their own grassy grounds by the San Antonio River.
There are five missions and altogether, they comprise the San Antonio Missions National Historic Park. The most famous of these is naturally the Alamo, but the other four, Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Mission San Juan Capistrano, and Mission Espada, are just as historic.
The route between the five missions is marked by signs, but you might want to pick up a Missions Trail map at the Alamo.
