St. Kitts & Nevis, Caribbean Travel Guide

Complete Vacation, Recreation and Tourism Information

Powdery stretches of sand stand stark against the translucent blue waters of islands of St. Kitts and adjacent island Nevis. Rocky promontories are a tangle of vivid foliage and bright blooms down to the ocean's edge, fanned by breeze in the coconut palms. No surprise then that the biggest attractions on St. Kitts & Nevis are the sand, sea and associated activities.

Find tourist amenities in Basseterre, St. Kitts' city center, before voyaging on to circumnavigate the misty, green velvet slopes of volcano Mt. Liamuiga. Join a guided hike to the top if you're after exertion, or take a shorter eco-tour to learn more about lush flora and fauna.

Wander the stone walls of Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park for island views and St. Kitts' history, then hop aboard the St. Kitts Scenic Railway for a ride past the rainforests and beaches of this island getaway. Pay a visit to the Carib Breweries when you're done and sip on something local.

Nevis is a quick ferry ride away from St. Kitts. Disembark in Charlestown for a tour of the island's historic sites before surrendering to a sandy stretch. Try the Horatio Nelson Museum or the Museum of Nevis history to brush up on your Nevis-know, or head out of town to the Botanical Gardens of Nevis and the Nevisian Heritage Village. Windsurfers take to the breezes off the northwest coast. Tired visitors can rest their own legs in the saddle while enjoying a ride horseback down the beach or up into the heights of Nevis.

For those planning to submerge to explore the area's underwater attractions, St. Kitts has a pleasant sampling of reefs and fish schools to speed your air tank to empty. Get a guide if you want to explore some of the less-frequented sites. For those who are just longing for a lounge on the beach, choose one of the sand strands easily accessible from Basseterre, like Frigate Bay Beach and others to the southeast.

St. Kitts & Nevis may not have the scintillating nightlife of bigger islands, but pleasant beaches and a lush tropical interior make for a picturesque and pleasantly warm retreat.

St. Kitts and Nevis are just southeast of Statia and west of Antigua.
